28th May 2010: "Yep, I've heard the Cuckoo twice this week. Last year I only heard it once so I'm pleased he or she is back in NB". PF, Norton Bavant
30th May 2010: "Jim and I heard the Cuckoo at 5-35am this morning, he was heard from our back garden towards the lane leading out of the village towards the field on the right hand side. The male bird announces his presence from a high perch and at great length, using the same monotonous but musical notes: 'coo-coo'. The female's call consists of an explosive, bubbling chuckle. So we all know that the cuckoo we are hearing in the Village is a male bird.
Jim and I get lots of birds in our garden, goldfinch, blue tits, robins, house sparrow's, nuthatch, great tits, jackdaw, starlings, wood pigeon, blackbird's, and even wrens. In Martin and Fiona's garden they have a lovely fish pond and we have often seen a heron fly in for a visit. Mike and Viv also have starlings above their back door nesting, plus some sparrows nesting too". - AR, Norton Bavant
