Plants for sale  

The Plant and Produce Stall at the recent Open Gardens was very successful and we would like to thank all those people who donated items. There are still some plants available and these are listed below (most with pictures). Autumn is a great time to think about adding to your borders. 4 x Ajuga reptans "Atropurpurea" or "Burgundy Glow" (Bugle)

Good ground cover plant with purple foliage, blue flowers from April to June. Full sun or partial shade; moist, well drained soil

   

5 x Alchemilla mollis (Lady's Mantle)

Low growing perennial with acid green flowers from June to September. Full sun or partial shade; moist humus-rich soil

 
 

3 x Alcea rosea (Hollyhock)

Tall perennial with spikes of pink flowers in summer. Grow in well drained, moderately fertile soil in full sun. Stake on exposed sites

   

2 x Anemone x hybrida

Pale pink flowers from July to September. Full sun or partial shade; moist, fertile, humus-rich soil

             
 

2 x Astranta seedlings

Medium perennial with sprays of starry white flowers with a green or pink flush from June to August. Full sun or partial shad; fertile, preferably humus-rich soil

   

1 x Geranium Johnsons Blue

Good ground cover with blue-mauve flowers from May to August. Full sun or partial shade; fertile, well drained soil

             
 

4 x Helleborous orientalis seedlings

Cream, pink or red, plain or spotted flowers appear from late winter into spring. Partial shade; good neutral to alkaline soil. Remove old leaves when flowers appear

   

2 x Hemerocallis (Day Lily)

Salmon pink flowers in July and August. Full sun; fertile, moist well drained soil

             
 

2 x Potentilla (unknown variety)

Low growng perennial with sprays of red centred, salmon pink flowers in summer. Poor to moderately fertile, well drained soil in full sun.

   

6 x Nepeta x faasenii (Catmint)

Aromatic grey/blue foliage and violet blue flowers in summer and early autumn. Any well drained soil in full sun or partial shade

             
 

1 x Sedum spectabile

Flat heads of pink flowers from summer into autumn. Full sun or partial shade in well drained soil

   

11 x Verbena bonariensis

Tall airy perennial with tiny sprays of lilac purple flowers from sumer into autumn. Well drained, moderately fertile soil in full sun. Not fully hardy, protect with a dry winter mulch

             

1 x Cephalaria gigantea

Tall bushy plant with creamy-yellow flowers in summer. Grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade

 

3 x Sedum aizoon

Small flat heads of yellow flowers during summer. Full sun or partial shade in well drained soil

  2 x Geranium (unknown variety)
low growing perennial, good for ground cover. Green leaves tinged with red and soft pink-purple flowers from late spring into summer. Full sun or partial shade
in fertile, moist, well drained soil
  3 x Asters (unknown variety) - medium sized perennial good for late summer/early autumn colour. One red flowered, one blue, one pale blue

Arching shrub best trained against a wall. Bright yellow flowers in winter & spring. Well drined soil in a sheltered position in sun or partial shade

Spreading shrub, can be grown against a wall. Tiny white flowers in May followed by red berries in autumn. Full sun or partial shad in moderately fertile, well drained soil

6 x Aloe burgersfortensis

Grow indoors in loam-based potting compost with added extra grit. Note: Minimum temperature 3 degrees C. Water moderately when in growth, very sparingly when dormant. Apply liquid feed 2/3 times in growing season
