Winners in our Midst
Sutton Veny Flower Show - 10th July 2010
Bavantonians Annette & Jim stole the Show walking away with a number of trophies at Saturday's Flower Show.
Many congratulations to Annette who outshone a host of talented competitors including winning the Best Entry Trophy. She deserves a huge round of applause just like she got on Saturday at the Flower Show where her artistic creations spoke for themselves.
Here's Annette with her trophies and opposite is her winning creation depicting her interpretation of Gustav Klimt's most famous painting 'the Kiss'.
So, Annette, you had a fantastic show - what other classes did you enter?
I entered the "Handmade greeting card" category where I did a watercolour of an African bee eater, for which I also received a first prize certificate for this entry.
I also entered the "Painting in any medium" category and received a second prize certificate. My painting was an 8"x8" watercolour of a kingfisher.
The last class I entered was the "Photo with a humorous caption" and I received a first prize certificate. My entry was of a parrot pointing, and the caption was "They went that way!!"
My interpretation of 'the Kiss' was entered into "An interpretation of any well known painting in any media" and the 3 canvases measuring 24" x 24" received the first prize certificate.
Then to my surprise my version of 'the Kiss' also received yet another Trophy for which I received a huge rose bowl for Best Entry in the show.
Also, let's not forget Jim, our congratulations go out to him as he did what he does best and won first prize in the photography category "Winter". Jim's winning entry was a photograph of a winter wonderland with his dog Sixpence in the woods. Not only did Jim's "Winter" photo receive a first prize certificate, he also won a trophy for the best exhibit in the Photography classes.
Don't miss Annette's interview in the Warminster Journal which is out on Thursday, 15th July.
