Dear Lena, fantastic news! As the founder (& only) member of the Norton Bavant Swedish Association, you have won the title of The Only Swede in the Village. Your prize is a 3 week break on an island retreat. You will be the only inhabitant, pack your bag and prepare to depart. You will need to think carefully about what to take with you, don't take too much Aquavit! Have fun... |
 |
| So, the island belongs to you during your stay, what name would you give it? |
| Aloneha - as I'll be alone. Or perhaps Miaowi to remind me of Jeff, our cat. I don't know, I'll decide when I get there! |
 |
| You’re allowed to take a picnic hamper with you what food goodies would you fill it with? |
Is there a bakery boat that will bring croissants and bread every day? (like rural French bakery vans). Editor's note: If you want a young Frenchman delivering bread - you've got it! If not, then I'd need the ingredients to make bread in the breadmaker from the next question. Plus plenty of dark Bounty bars - it is a tropical island after all. Parma ham, goats' cheese, brie, smoked salmon, lots of fresh seafood, some sparkling Shiraz, fruit and salad stuff to try and stay healthy plus cheesecake and chocolate mousse. With any luck there will be a freshwater spring to drink from but if not, then plenty of bottled still water. |

| You're allowed one electrical household item – what would it be? |
A breadmaker in case there's no bakery boat - then I'll be able to make freshly baked bread everyday! |
 |
| You won’t need to take lots of clothes with you as the uniform is strictly shorts & t-shirts which are provided for you, but you can take one special piece of clothing – name it? |
| A pair of trainers to go for long walks to work off all that bread, cheese and chocolate mousse! |
 |
| To while away the time, you can take one luxury item or accessory with you – what would you take? |
An e-book reader (and charger) so I can have a lot of books to choose from. |
 |
| You’re allowed to take one fun item of your choice – what would it be? |
| A camera with a large memory card - there are bound to be plenty of beautiful views, animals and plants to photograph. |
 |
| What book would you take to read? |
| One book would only last me a few days but I'll have my e-book reader - aha, clever eh? But in keeping with the spirit of the question, I would probably take The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I first read this 15 years ago on a long distance bus journey between Sydney and Melbourne and I remember how appropriate it seemed for my life at that time. It's about time I read it again! But then, it might not live up to my memory of it and I'll be disappointed... perhaps I'll stick to the e-books... |
