Good morning all,

Please do share this email widely.

Well, the weather certainly has changed. Only a couple of days ago I was enjoying sitting in the sun as I did my work. Today, I am back indoors as my computer is not a fan of the rain.

A couple of weeks ago I rehomed another 6 chickens, this time from a caged hen farm. When they arrived at the rectory, that was the first time they had ever seen or felt grass under their feet, the breeze and sun on their skin, and the freedom to move about. Today is another first for them as they experience rain. I’m not sure they are going to like it very much as they have no feathers at all at the moment, but they will soon grow. A couple of my new hens are already coming up to me to see what I’m all about (a couple still run in the opposite direction), and they all very much enjoy their food and scratching about in the grass. It is truly amazing and joyful to watch them grow and blossom into the chickens they were created to be.

As my new chickens experience so many things for the first time, I wonder whether my established hens are encouraging them and helping them to learn how to live this new life of freedom.

As we move into the colder weather we are seeing Covid-19 restrictions beginning to get tighter again as infection cases rise. As we move into winter and work together to live through tighter restrictions, and all that the next few months will bring, now more than ever we need to “encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing” (1 Thess 5:11). Paul writes so often about encouraging one another, it is a vital part of our lives in Christ. In fact, when we do encourage one another we are living examples of Christ.

So this week I invite you all to encourage one another, build one another up and in so doing to be living examples of Christ in our communities.

Zoom Online Alpha course with Cley Hill Benefice

From: Trudy Hobson <upperwylyevalleyteam@gmail.com>

Good morning all,

Cley Hill Benefice are hosting an online Alpha course. Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that freely explore the basics of the Christian faith.

The online course will begin on 9th September 2020, 7.30pm, each session being one hour for 11 weeks.

(I know this clashes with the Zom Home Study Group we have in UWVT, but Alpha is for seekers, who may feel a little in the deep end at the UWVT Home Group. The Alpha is not replacing our UWVT Home Group which will continue)

Please could you pray and reflect on whether you may know someone who may wish to attend this online Alpha course. Someone may have been asking you questions, asking where God is throughout the coronavirus pandemic? How do we pray? Does prayer work? You may have had conversations with people who have mentioned that the last few months have given them an opportunity to reevaluate their lives and look at what is really important to have a full and fulfilled life.

I have attached a couple of poster/invitations for you to share with others. Please feel free to use these however you feel is best in your context (putting up posters on notice boards, giving out invitations to specific people).

Below is a link to the website with promotional videos and more information if you feel that might be useful.

The invitation to the Alpha course is also open to you, so please do email Gay Maynard at  revgmaynard@gmail.com to let her know you would like to attend Alpha, and she will ensure you receive the link.

Thank you all

With my continued prayers and blessings
